What is “Block Connections Without VPN” and how does it work? (Android 8 onwards)

For Android 8 onwards, it is possible to set “Block Connections Without VPN”. This will send all internet traffic through the VPN connection.

With this setting enabled, the internet connection will not work on your device unless you have an active connection to the VPN service.
